91 Ways volunteer Viviane was born in Egypt and fled as a refugee with her family to the UK when she was 14 years old.
“We’d sit on the balcony and if there was a street-food seller walking past us with something we liked, like sugar cane, we’d lower a basket down to him with the money, and he’d raise it back up with the food”.
“It was proper sugar cane – we’d cut it and suck out the sweet juice. It was delicious!”
“I’m a part of Bristol and West Jewish Congregation, which is a wonderful and inclusive community. I’m very interested in 91 Ways because I miss the multicultural opportunities in London. I love cooking and eating food from different cultures and I am excited to meet and get to know the different communities in Bristol.”
