In 2015, we began hosting gatherings, showcasing ordinary home cooks from underrepresented cultures. Alongside their favourite dishes, these cooks shared the personal stories, family memories and cultural values connected to their food. These simple but extraordinary gatherings brought communities closer together, and they became our foundation.
When we cook for someone else, it is an act of love. And when we eat together, we create a shared memory together.

Our mission
Our mission is to celebrate Bristol’s 91 language communities by harnessing the power of food to bring people together, foster genuine connections, and build a more inclusive, global city. Through sharing food and stories, we break down barriers, promote diverse cultures and heritages, and create spaces where everyone feels seen and valued. We reach out to isolated and disenfranchised groups, strengthening community cohesion while educating and empowering people to improve their health and well-being. By building common ground through food, we cultivate understanding, belonging, and lasting change.

Our purpose
At 91 Ways, our purpose is to harness the power of food to connect people, celebrate cultural diversity, and build a more inclusive Bristol. Named after the 91 languages spoken in our city, we create spaces where individuals from all backgrounds can come together, share food and stories, and build meaningful relationships.
Through our community-led events, workshops, and initiatives, we work to break down barriers, tackle food insecurity, and empower marginalized communities with the skills and confidence to improve their well-being. By using food as a tool for connection and change, we foster understanding, belonging, and lasting social impact—ensuring that everyone has a seat at the table.

What are we trying to achieve?
We are striving to create a more connected and inclusive Bristol by using the universal language of food to bring people together. By celebrating the city’s 91 language communities, we foster understanding, break down barriers, and create spaces where everyone feels valued. We want to help people to make better decisions about their nutrition and well-being, so that they can improve the health and sustainability of themselves, their families, and our great city.

What do we do?
At 91 Ways, we use food to bring people together, celebrate culture, and build community. Since 2015, we’ve connected over 45,000 people through cooking workshops, events, and catering.
Every penny we raise goes back into our communities, funding projects that help people cook, share stories, and feel a sense of belonging.
