We run free cooking classes in community kitchens across the city, open to everyone, with a focus on those who wouldn’t usually have access — including those facing food insecurity, social isolation, or simply wanting to learn something new.

Our sessions are informal, practical and welcoming. People come to learn how to cook nutritious, affordable meals, and often leave with new friendships.

We’ve delivered courses on slow cookers, healthy eating and general cookery, facilitated alongside community cooks from around the world sharing recipes from their cultures. Every class is a chance to connect over food and celebrate diversity.

Supporting Refugee & Asylum Seeker Women

We run cooking sessions for refugee and asylum seeker women living in hotel accommodation, where there are no kitchen facilities. These sessions offer a rare and meaningful chance to cook together, something deeply rooted in their cultures and daily life.

Together, they prepare generous, home-cooked meals from their own culinary traditions, often enough to feed over 150 people in the hotels.

  • I’ve been struggling to leave the house lately, but these classes made me feel so welcome I’ve looked forward to them every week.

  • I was wanting to learn some skills so I can cook for my family, I’ve come away with so much more confidence and met some people I hope will stay in my life.

  • I was so exhausted when I got in and forgot I’d had the slow cooker on. It was like coming home and my grandma had cooked for me.

  • During this course I spent barely any money on my shopping as these meals lasted me so many days.

  • I feel so much better eating fresh food, I don’t get tired in the middle of the afternoon anymore when I have these meals for lunch.
