Fair Saturday – 24th November 2018

We joined Bristol council helping launch Fair Saturday in Bristol; a global initiative created to off-set Black Friday. We prepared breakfast for over 60 people and our menu included Eritrean eggs (similar to shakshuka), spanish style Tortilla, “jazzy” beans ( a family recipe for Kalpna), a beautiful fruit cake, a malawi style donut and a beautiful Bangladeshi sweetened yogurt dish that we couldn’t stop eating!

Have you ever wanted to see inside a Hindu temple or taste the flavours of another culture while meeting the people at the heart of its community?

In January Bristol’s Hindu Temple very kindly hosted lunch and a tour around their temple for people in Bristol, including Bristol’s Free School, Refugee Women of Bristol and Bristol’s interfaith community group.

On Saturday 21st November 91 Ways launched our first Peace Cafe!

Over 30 of Bristol’s language communities were represented at our Cafe, with our guests treated to authentic food made from the heart, including Somali Samboosa, to Russian Beetroot Salad and Iranian Kookoo.  We were so inspired seeing everyone relaxing together and making new connections. Thank you to each and every one of you – individuals, businesses and communities to helped to make it happen.

We were covered in the Guardian, BBC TV and Radio and local press. That day we certainly brought Bristol one step closer to being a more truly connected city.
